The Level 2 Award in Health Promotion is a qualification covering the principles of health promotion. It has been developed to meet the increasing needs of a wide range of individuals to acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in health promotion, so that they are in a position to influence and advise. The Award provides candidates with an opportunity to work and train within a multi-disciplinary group, exploring and examining basic theory in relation to the concepts, influences and determinants of health and to plan/undertake a health promotion initiative in their area.

The qualification route comprises the core unit The Principles of Health Promotion and route-specific unit General Health and Wellbeing.


Content:


Unit HP1 Principles of Health Promotion (Credit Value 2)
Candidates will be able to:
- Describe factors that influence health
- State the role of effective communication in health promotion
- Explore behaviour change

Unit HP3 Promotion of General Health and Well-Being (Credit value 2)
Candidates will be able to:
- Outline the scientific basis of health promotion
- Identify opportunities for the practical application of health promotion
- Describe methods of health promotion planning

This course is run over a 10 week period, comprising five tutor guided study days. Throughout the programme participants will be provided with individual tutor
